For over 10 years, NASAM's Non-Profit Program (NNPP)
has served Japanese Government and industry.

NASAM has supported several Seminars in Japan such as "The Peace Keeping Operation" (PKO) and "The Challenge Against Great Earthquake Disaster '97 Symposium".

The Challenge Against Great Earthquake Disaster '97 Symposium was held in January 1997 and was sponsored by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Astronaut James Lovell, Captain of Apollo 13, was the key note speaker at the conference.

NASAM's role as coordinator between the Japanese Government and Captain Lovell ensured a successful and informative event. Captain Lovell's speech "A Successful Failure" was well received by all who attended.

During his visit to Japan, Captain Lovell also made a presentation to the Young Astronaut club of Japan.
